What does life with ADHD feel like? In So Damn Easy Going, a cross between a sensitive coming-of-age drama and a playful comedy, it feels like a raging storm in one’s head, twitching knees and noncommittal sex to help find some calm.
For years, 18-year-old Joanna has lived with constant overstimulation and its consequence. Few people know about her diagnosis, and medication helps Joanna keep her symptoms somewhat in check. But when the pills run out and her jobless father can’t afford a refill, Joanna needs to get creative and make some quick money. Along her quest, Joanna suddenly finds herself faced with Audrey, a new student whose bold demeanor and reassuring attention soon leave her captivated. Overwhelmed with these new emotions and for fear of not being enough, Joanna keeps her neurological challenges secret from Audrey, and disaster takes its course. Wie sich die Welt mit ADHS anfühlen muss, davon erzählt So Damn Easy Going auf der Schwelle zwischen sensiblem Coming-Of-Age-Drama und spielerischer Komödie.
Gewitter im Kopf, zuckende Knie und unverbindlicher Sex zur Beruhigung. Die 18-jährige Joanna lebt seit Jahren mit der ständigen Reizüberflutung und ihren Folgen. Wissen tun nur die wenigsten von ihrer ADHS-Diagnose. Mit Hilfe von Medikamenten hat Joanna ihre Symptome einigermaßen im Griff. Als die Tabletten jedoch aus-gehen und ihr arbeitsloser Vater kein Geld für Nachschub hat, muss Joanna kreativ werden, um schnell an Geld zu kommen. Mitten in der Beschaffungs-Odyssee steht plötzlich die neue Mitschülerin Audrey vor ihr. Mit ihrer offensiven Art und ihrer beruhigenden Aufmerksamkeit verdreht Audrey Joanna den Kopf. Die neuen Gefühle überfordern Joanna und aus Angst, nicht gut genug zu sein, verschweigt sie Audrey ihre neurologische Besonderheit und das Desaster nimmt seinen Lauf.
