My Stolen Planet is a quiet and deeply personal documentary by Iranian filmmaker
Farahnaz Sharifi. By creating a montage of private video recordings, diary entries, and found archival material, Sharifi traces the coming-of-age of a woman in a system that controls and constraints women’s freedom. It is a life under constant surveillance – secretly driven by a desire for self-determination. In a scene where women dance in an apartment – secretly, yet self-determined, exuberant and for a moment unobserved – Sharifi makes palpable how female memory, bodies, and small moments in everyday life quietly transform into subversive acts of resistance. The film is an intimate testimony about women whose country and future have been stolen from them.

Iranian director, screenwriter and editor Farahnaz Sharifi has been living in exile since 2022.

My Stolen Planet ist ein leiser, zutiefst persönlicher Dokumentarfilm der iranischen Regisseurin Farahnaz Sharifi. Mit privaten Videoaufnahmen, Tagebucheinträgen und gefundenem Archivmaterial zeichnet sie das Aufwachsen einer Frau in einem System, das weibliche Freiheit kontrolliert und begrenzt. Ein Leben unter ständiger Kontrolle – und die Sehnsucht nach Selbstbestimmung. Berührend ist die Szene, in der Frauen in einer Wohnung tanzen – heimlich, aber selbstbestimmt, ausgelassen und für einen Moment unbeobachtet.
So macht Sharifi spürbar, wie weibliche Erinnerung, Körper und Alltagsmomente zu Akten des Widerstands werden. Der Film ist ein intimes Zeugnis über Frauenleben, deren Land und Zukunft gestohlen wurde.
Die iranische Regisseurin, Drehbuchautorin und Editorin Farahnaz Sharifi lebt seit 2022 im Exil.
