What does life with ADHD feel like? In So Damn Easy Going, a cross between a sensitive coming-of-age drama and a playful comedy, it feels like a raging storm in one’s head, twitching knees and noncommittal sex to help find some calm.
For years, 18-year-old Joanna has lived with constant overstimulation and its consequence. Few people know about her diagnosis, and medication helps Joanna keep her symptoms somewhat in check. But when the pills run out and her jobless father can’t afford a refill, Joanna needs to get creative and make some quick money. Along her quest, Joanna suddenly finds herself faced with Audrey, a new student whose bold demeanor and reassuring attention soon leave her captivated. Overwhelmed with these new emotions and for fear of not being enough, Joanna keeps her neurological challenges secret from Audrey, and disaster takes its course. So Damn Easy Going is a bitter-sweet romantic comedy about the emotional turbulance of being in love as someone with ADHD and has been rightfully awarded with the QueerScope Debut Film Award as well as the Queerer Filmpreis of the Braunschweig International Film Festival.
