The world premiere of Gharoro-Akpojotor’s debut film was enthusiastically received at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival 2025. The film features powerful images with delicate coloring that stand in stark contrast to the harsh reality of .the bureaucratic mills of deportation detention. At the heart of the narrative is Isio. Persecuted and traumatized because of her homosexuality, she flees her homeland Nigeria and arrives at the Hatchworth deportation center. Stuck in the limbo between asylum application and deportation, fear pervades everything. Yet amid this, friendship and love blossom—a bond between Isio, Farah, Nana and Atefeh that offers hope and possibility. Will the women manage to find freedom of mind and preserve their love?
