      On oranges, birds, and the urge to smash the patriarchy real quick.

      In A bird hit my Window and now I am a Lesbian a somber bird funeral becomes the ultimate coming-out moment. While we’re still bickering over pronouns, the animals in Dans la Nature have long since moved on and are laughing at how uptight we are. Along those lines, Lady Attila reminds us that dreams should happen in real life, not while we’re sleeping. But getting there isn’t always that glamorous: In Pissing on the Patriarchy, a frantic hunt for a bathroom becomes a full-on political throwdown. And it’s always about community too: A Study of Empathy poses the uncomfortable question of whether you can actually ask for empathy, or if that’s already asking too much. Change often starts quietly and fruitily, as in The Eating of an Orange, where a simple gesture becomes the juicy turning point toward an entirely new outlook on life. In About me, a mother goes head-to-head with her daughter in an e-casting, proving that the journey to self-discovery almost always runs straight through generational conflict. But in the end, experience wins out, because Girl Power teaches us you’re never too old for a healthy dose of courage and a cunning plan.

      A Bird Hit My Window and Now I Am A Lesbian: Hier wird eine traurige Vogelbestattung zum ultimativen Coming-out-Event. Während wir noch über Pronomen diskutieren, amüsieren sich die Tiere in Dans la nature schon längst über unsere Engstirnigkeit. Passend dazu erinnert uns Lady Attila daran, dass Träume nicht im Schlaf, sondern im echten Leben stattfinden sollten. Doch der Weg dorthin ist manchmal profan: In Pissen auf das Patriarchat wird die verzweifelte Suche nach einer Toilette zur politischen Kampfansage. Dabei geht es immer auch um das Miteinander: A Study of Empathy stellt die unbequeme Frage, ob man Mitgefühl eigentlich aktiv einfordern darf, oder ob das schon zu viel verlangt ist. Oft beginnnt Veränderung ganz leise und fruchtig, wie in The Eating of an Orange, wo eine simple Geste zum saftigen Wendepunkt für eine völlig neue Lebensperspektive wird. Dass der Weg zur Selbstfindung zudem oft über Generationenkonflikte führt, verdeutlicht About Me durch ein E-Casting, bei dem die Mutter das Rampenlicht noch nicht kampflos räumen will. Doch am Ende siegt die Erfahrung, denn Girl Power lehrt uns, dass frau für eine ordentliche Portion Mut und eine strategische List niemals zu alt ist.
