Kiana ist aus dem Iran nach London geflohen. Sie hatte für ihren Abschlussfilm an der Uni Homosexuelle interviewt. Als das bekannt wurde, blieb nur die Flucht. In London findet sie Freundin und Freiheit und lernt die Journalistin Sayeh (Mahshad Torkan) kennen. Zusammen engagieren sie sich gegen Zensur und Unterdrückung im Iran und machen diesen Film. Cul-de-Sac (Sackgasse) lebt vom Gegensatz des poetischen Realismus, fast schon verträumte Bilder des freien Lebens in England wechseln ab mit der fast ausweglosen Situation des Exils, der Situation im Iran.

English: Kiana has fled Iran and come to London. For her graduation film at the university she interviewed homosexuals. As this became known, her only option was to flee the country. In London she finds a girlfriend and freedom, and gets to know Sayeh (Mahshad Torkan) a journalist. Together, they become active against censorship and repression in Iran and make this film. Cul-de-Sac exalts from the contrasts within poetic realism, almost dream-time, faraway images of the carefree life in England alternate with the almost no-way-out situation of exile, and of the situation in Iran.
